Luisa Urgias is a calligrapher. She lives in Monfalcone. She began to study calligraphy and history of writing in 2000. Since then she has constantly worked by attending several calligraphy and art workshops, both in Italy and abroad, with internationally-known artists and calligraphers (among them: Brody Neuenschwander, Denis Brown, Ewan Clayton, Yves Leterme, Gottfried Pott, etc.).
Between 2002 and 2005 she worked with the CLAS (Calligraphy and Lettering Art Society) Honoured Fellow Gaynor Goffe, and in 2003 and 2005 she obtained two CLAS National Diplomas in Calligraphy, the Foundational and the Intermediate one (with merit).
She began to study the oriental discipline Shodō with the Japanese Master Nagayama Norio Sensei. She now has reached the pre-III Dan at the 日本教育書道連盟 (Nihon Kyōiku Shodō Renmei) – Japan Educational Calligraphy Federation (JEFC) of Tōkyō.
She teaches western calligraphy and she's going on to enhance and extend her capabilities and knowledge.
